Besides the planets and their satellites, there are other members of the solar system, They are asteroids, meteoroids, meteors and meteorites and comets.
A. Asteriods – are small planetary bodies that revolve around the sun. They are sometimes called minor planets or planetoids. Asteriods revolve around the sun in a zone called the asteroid belt. Asteriods have irregular shape, Ceres is the largest asteoroid. It is round like a planet and about 970 kilometers in diameter. Eros is the most well-known asteroids. It is about 23 kilometers long and 11 kilometers wide.
B. Meteoroids, Meteors and Meteorites
- Meteoroids – are small pieces of metallic or stony matter. They have different speed and orbits around the sun. Some scientist believe, they are the results of a breakup of a comet. When a meteoroid enters the earth’s atmosphere, the object heats up from friction. As it falls, it begins to burn intensely. When it appears on earth, they are called meteors.
- Meteors – break up and burn completely before they reach the ground. Those that crash into the earth are known as meteorites.
C. comets – a comet is a frozen chunk of gas, dust, and ice. As it approaches the sun, it begins to resemble a star with a long, shining tail.
Parts of a comet:
- Nucleus – it is made up of frozen gasses, ice and dust. It usually measures less than 16 kilometers in diameter.
- Coma – is an elongated coma. It is formed as the comet approaches the sun. A comet’s tail may be as long as 160 million kilometers. The tail always point away the sun. As the comet approaches the sun, its tail follows the head.
Kinds of Comets:
- Short – period comets – they have orbits that take less than 200 years. They stay near the sun.
- Long – period comets – they have orbits that may carry them away from the sun. Their orbits are 10,000 A. U. their orbital period can last for a thousand years.

Yeah, it's going to be something striking. And that i love how successful solar panels have gotten, maybe the ultra thin, flexible solar panels. I will love for solar power that they are the answer. In reality, our energy is a form of power on the sun, such as oil.
