Looking pretty is not just a gift. It is more of a habit. It means consistent care of the face, the hair, the teeth, the nails, and the body. It means being well groomed every day. Being well groomed every day, however, should not be mistaken for dressing up every day as if one were always going to attend a party. Instead, it means being always neat and clean and appropriately dressed.
The habit of looking pretty paves the way for winning friends. It is because beauty attracts. It is also because one who is sure of her good looks is well poised and ready to mix socially with others. On the other hand, one who feels she is sloppily dressed becomes shy and shuns company.
Every day, see to it that your hair is in place, that your face looks radiantly fresh, that your nails are clean, that your smell is clean and sweet, and that your clothes speak of good taste. This is one sure way of winning friends and being happy.
Dress with cafe and then forget yourself in thought for others. One who seems pleased with her own dress is most unpleasing to others. Dress tastefully but in a quiet and simple manner. Avoid a showy dress that is intended to attract attention. It is in very bad taste to carry all your possessions on your back as a snail does his house. It makes people think that your clothes are more important than you are. They lose their respect for you when they feel that you are dressing more expensively than you can afford. No amount of finery can make a girl as attractive as simplicity, cleanliness, and freshness of attire combined with a gracious manner.
The schoolroom is no place for bracelets, necklaces, jeweled-combs, fine garments and high-heeled shoes. Cleanliness and simplicity should be the keynote of schoolroom dress. This simplicity should be adhered to upon the platform, at entertainments, and for all graduating exercises as well.
There seems to be a growing tendency among girls to dress extravagantly—in many cases far beyond their means. This is particularly noticeable when they figure in school entertainments and commencement exercises. This fact has been deplored by many officials, commented upon by strangers visiting in our midst, and watched with increasing alarm by earnest teachers.

This is really helpful and true. You don't wanna try too hard other wise u may look like an attention seeker and u might look a bit tarty, but if u keep simple but not too sloppy and careless then everything should be fine. Just make sure u look and smell fresh. As for ur personality just be confident but don't act big headed! Once again, thank you this helped a lot!
It was on spot. It's basically telling you about good grooming. So yea, once you are well groomed you look pretty, so to speak. So it good advice especially the part about not over doing it. Simple works best.
I don't know..............:( doesn't work........ for me............ in fact when I've tried it, my friends you know........... laughed & thought I was ........ crazy so to speak..... they think it's cool being stinky and wearing unappropreate cloths!!!
Hi, Im 12 and this really helped me... maybe my friends should try it because they always brag about how expensive there clothes were and they cant even afford a comb to comb their hair. Dont you hate it when they brag about how rich and skinny there parents are? Then you go to there house and there mom is 500 pounds and there dad is a mechanic. WTH (what the heck) is rong wit you people???!?!?!
